AI enhances both threats and defenses in cybersecurity. It enables the creation of sophisticated malware but also improves threat detection by analyzing network traffic. Companies must ensure their new AI systems are secure to avoid additional risks.
Cybersecurity is not just a job for the cybersecurity or the IT team. Everybody in the company has a role with respect to both preventing cyber threats and acting strategically to prevent bad things from happening.
I think companies have to focus on investing in their cyber defenses, making themselves a harder target and making sure that if they do have a cyber incident, that they’re resilient.
Being cyber resilient also means: Getting into a position where your company can quickly move on from a successful cyber attack and resume operations instead of being catastrophically affected by it.
Take the example of a ransomware attack: If you have a backup of all your information that's secure and unaffected, then – after shutting down the attack and closing of their access – you can reboot your operations.
