New fully integrated UNO RF/RFID label offers improved performance and sustainability

12th January 2020 - Checkpoint Systems, a global leader in source-to-shopper solutions, has launched a new version of its unique UNO RF/RFID label that will enhance supply chain visibility and loss prevention.

Launching at NRF 2020, the patented and fully-integrated UNO RF/RFID label features all-new RFID chip options, including the recently launched Impinj M750 chip.

The new label simultaneously offers retailers the benefits of EAS protection at the store exit and RFID inventory management, when paired with the appropriate hardware and software. This provides apparel retailers with dual-purpose technology, meaning only one label is required, helping to further decrease labor costs and process time.

By combining RF and RFID technologies, Checkpoint is also helping to mitigate body shielding and shadowing, which can affect the individual technologies.

Impinj M750 RAIN RFID tag chips:

As one of the smallest chips of its kind on the market, the Impinj M750 chip is 40% smaller than previous versions, allowing Checkpoint to reduce material usage by 18%. The new inlays built on the Impinj M750 chip utilize the highest receive sensitivity (-24 dBm) of any RAIN tag integrated circuit (IC) and optimize performance across a range of materials and operating frequencies.

Ivan Gosling, Product Manager RF Consumables, Checkpoint Systems, said:

“We are constantly striving to improve our label designs and deliver maximum performance capabilities for retailers. Significant investment in our R&D facilities, testing laboratories and manufacturing facilities has resulted in the evolution of the UNO label to deliver one integrated solution that improves loss prevention and inventory management. Our expertise in label design has helped us to create a compact, yet high performing dual label optimized to work with the newest RFID chips.”

The new UNO RF/RFID single label is available immediately.

Checkpoint Systems’ HALO App Simplifies and Speeds Up Omnichannel Orders with RFID

·      New release of HALO supports in-store fulfilment of omnichannel orders
·      RFID-driven inventory data drives distribution of orders to stores
·      Store staff receives easy-to-use order information, location of items and schedule for packing for shipment or in-store pickup.
·      Increased in-store productivity and customer satisfaction

Thorofare, NJ - January 7, 2020 – Checkpoint Systems came out with a major release of the IoT software platform HALO which comes with omnichannel and task management functionality. HALO now supports in-store fulfilment of omnichannel orders, that is “buy online, pick up in store” and ship-from-store. Using RFID and accurate inventory data, HALO helps distributing the orders among stores based on availability. The HALO mobile app shows store staff the order information, helps scheduling the fulfilment, locating the items and preparing for pickup or shipment. The new functionality will increase in-store productivity, raising the Units Per Hour fulfilled, and boost sales together with customer satisfaction.

“Today, to pack an order, the store associate typically uses a printout from the ERP system to look for products in the store. Some items might be already sold, some misplaced. The associate will lose time looking for them and will sometimes have to reject the order. HALO uses near real-time inventory data and supports the associate with an easy to use app throughout the in-store fulfilment process, making it fast and efficient,” says Phil Fisher, product manager for HALO.

Inventory accuracy poses a problem for 56% of retailers who are implementing omnichannel programs, according to the market research company Forrester and the National Retail Federation. With RFID, inventory accuracy can be elevated from 65-75% to 93-99%, as found by GS1 and the ECR Community Shrinkage and On-shelf Availability Group.

“We continuously invest in logistics and IT to streamline the consumer-oriented omnichannel model. With HALO’s new in-store fulfilment functionality, we expect to further optimize operations through inventory accuracy, creating a new level of customer satisfaction”, says Daniel Muñoz, Operations Director of Desigual, the Spanish-headquartered international fashion brand.

HALO is a Software-as-a-Service platform that is part of Checkpoint’s RFID solution for retail. HALO tracks every tagged piece of merchandise across a retailer’s supply chain by collecting data from RFID readers in the stores and distribution centers. The platform synchronizes with enterprise resource planning (ERP) and warehouse management system (WMS) software, driving inventory accuracy, on-shelf availability and efficiency across the supply chain. Apart from omnichannel order fulfilment, task scheduling and locating items, store associates use HALO for cycle counts, receiving goods, replenishing shelves and display compliance.
