China in-store 2023, an official satellite of EuroShop, has drawn to a successful close at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC) on 1 December. Over three days 103 high-calibre exhibitors presented innovative store design and retail solutions attracting almost 14,000 professional visitors.
Elke Moebius, Director of EuroShop at Messe Düsseldorf, makes a positive summary: “After a 2-year break China in‑store has returned on a slightly smaller scale though receiving very positive feedback from both exhibitors and visitors. The strong focus on design-oriented and high-quality solutions for stores has clearly gone down very well with visitors. Next year we want to become even bigger and more international. We are particularly pleased that the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) subsidises China in-store with an official “Made in Germany” participation.
Marius Berlemann, General Manager of Messe Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Co. Ltd., says: “As consumers return to stores, bricks-and-mortar business is increasingly moving into the focus of retailers in China again. Exhibitors’ active participation and the strong commitment of numerous retail brands reflect the potential of this trend but also that China in-store has succeeded in presenting the latest innovations and providing important impulses to the sector again.” Exhibitors delighted at the sense of departure felt in the industry and praised both the high quality and quantity of trade visitors at their stands. Michael Gerling, CEO of the EHI Retail Institute, explains: “China in-store is closely linked with EuroShop. As a founding partner of EuroShop we are therefore very proud to be represented in China with such a powerful event. China in-store proved a very successful event for retailers in China and also for many international retail brands.”
This year the trade fair focused on especially high-quality in-store solutions for the first time, offering many inspiring solutions and store-fitting concepts targeted specifically at retailers intending to open premium stores in China or overseas. The Designer Village showcased concepts by leading designers revolving around Visual Merchandising and storefront design solutions. At the “Retail Forum” and “Design Forum” 46 industry experts presented the latest retail and store design trends such as lightweight construction of commercial spaces. The renowned ERDA China Award recognised outstanding store design concepts.
The latest retail technologies on display at China in‑store 2023 included amongst others digital display mannequins, virtual dressers, dynamic lighting systems with shopper identification and AI-based smart shelving and ESL. All of these solutions help retailers improve the in-store user experience, above all of the younger generation.
The next China in-store will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from 3 to 5 September 2024. For more information go to LinkedIn or the official website: www.c-in-store.com/en
