The Fespa 2010 jury has spoken. First prize (Gold) in the category ‘Digital Special Print including Architectural and Interior Design’ went to the Zürich-based print specialist Swissprint Production. The award-winning product is its ‘Erfurt Wallpaper CA’, a Neschen nonwoven wallpaper, which Swissprint Production printed digitally with a high-quality, artistic tulip motif. These tulip motifs were then used to wallpaper the lounge and bar of a restaurant in Dietikon, Zürich. The concept and design come from leading Swiss architect Tilla Theus. ‘Digitally printed wallpaper is the ideal medium for combining architecture and ambience in optimum fashion,’ declares a delighted Bea Spillmann, Managing Director and owner of Swissprint Production in Zürich. ‘The ability to use customised motifs means that there are no restrictions on creativity. This is now reflected in the Fespa 2010 Award.’ The digitally printable Erfurt wallpaper is the product of close cooperation between Erfurt and Neschen. As a result of the uniform coating of the Colour Alliance (CA) the Erfurt wallpaper can be printed with a customised design using inkjet printers and then applied using commercially available nonwoven wallpaper paste. Neschen AG gave a live demonstration on its Fespa stand of how easy it is to wallpaper.
