26.01.2005
In accordance with tradition, EuroShop 2005 will kick off with the EHI Architects' and Designers' Congress, to be staged this time on the afternoon of 19 February.
Star French architect Olivier Saguez, who over the last few years has been the brains behind architectural designs for the department store Galeries Lafayette and developed the new concept stores "Lafayette Maison” and "Lafayette V.O.”, is not the only one set to pack auditoriums.
A German perspective is provided by Dieter Blocher (Blocher + Blocher, Stuttgart) who will talk about the fascinating possibilities the architectural rejuvenation of old buildings holds for retail.
Another highlight of the congress promises to be the contribution from the USA. Bannered "Reinventing the Store”, a discussion featuring representatives from three of America's most successful retailers - Michael Cape (JC Penney), James Damian (BestBuy) and David Milne (Limited Brands) - and moderated by RoxAnna Sway (Display & Design Ideas) - will thrash out how longstanding brands are given a new lease of life through innovative store concepts.
Three breakout sessions on different topics will bring the designers' day to a close.
The Conference is followed by a reception with food and drinks for the participants.
