Microsoft presents intelligent shelf on EuroShop 2005

On stand 6H57 Microsoft will present an intelligent shelf with video on demand functionality based on RFID which was build in cooperation with Checkpoint Systems, Wincor Nixdorf and Online Software. The intelligent shelf offers new advertising and Sales possibilties to retailers. Besides pricing information, offers can be enhanced with emotional content like pictures, videos and animations. The customer gets (e.g. in split screens) an attractive cross-promotion offer concerning another product. The cross-selling effect influences the customer to stay longer in the store and to buy more products. The intelligent shelf recognizes all placed products with smart labels. As soon as the customer takes a product from the shelf, product specific advertisments with up-to-date price and information are displayed.
