presented and discussed.

Ernst Schwanhold, Minister for Trade and Industry, SMEs, Energy and
Traffic for the Region of North Rhine-Westphalia.

9.30 a.m.: Multichannel and digital...

Pure online dealers are having a tough time. But the Internet does
bring additional benefit to those operating stationary businesses
and mail order firms. How can the classic sales methods of trade
and the Internet trade co-exist and benefit from each other? What
can we expect of digital trade?

Dr. Klaus Eierhoff, Director of Bertelsmann AG

10.15 a.m.: Panel discussion

Using and integrating the Internet is an important task for trade.
But not the only one. When budgets are tight the question of
priorities arises.

Taking part in the discussion: Karstadt Warenhaus AG, Migros
Genossenschaftsbund and others.

10.45 a.m.: Coffee break

11.15 a.m.: Technology without frills

The hardware and software industry has a large range of goods.
New solutions come onto the market faster and faster. But –
can or must a company always use the very latest technology?
How much technology does a successful trading company need?
What are the preferences for the coming years?

Kurt Jox, Executive Director of Marktkauf GmbH

11.45 a.m.: Innovations for the customer who’s always right

Stop & Shop is seen as one of the most innovative trading companies

in the USA and, as a customer-oriented company, is constantly on the

Smaller, faster, cheaper – the business of information technology moves
