In June, the European Retail Academy, which was established on the occasion of EuroShop 2005, organises a summer camp for retail lecturers in Kiev. It will broach the subject of BA education including, in particular, retail practice as incorporated in the German model of universities for cooperative education.
"In the countries of Central and Eastern Europe there is a particular demand for that type of training, as the expanding western retail companies like Metro, Rewe or Obi need practice-oriented college graduates for their middle management," says Prof. Dr. Bernd Hallier, Chairman of EuroShop's Advisory Board.
Wilhelm Niedergöker, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf, recognises in the dialogue between academic knowledge and trade also an opportunity to gather new insights into the requirements the globalisation of trade raises for the trade fair sector.
"We are gladly prepared to organise the event in Kiev. That meeting of professors of the European University in Kiev will contribute to a better mutual understanding about the realisation of the principles of the Bologna process," Prof. Dr. Nina Ushakova of the Kiev National Trade University has stated in her capacity as hostess of the event.
