Coop Consumatori Nordest launches new ‘Tutto Coop solo Food’ store in Italy with ZBD’s epaper solution

Coop Consumatori Nordest, a division of Coop Italia, the largest supermarket chain in Italy, has selected ZBD’s electronic shelf labelling solution for its brand new store concept, ‘Tutto Coop solo Food’. The new store, located in Parma, Italy, is the first outlet of its kind, selling just Coop-branded high-end products. In excess of one thousand epop displays (electronic point of purchase) have been implemented within the new 200m2 store, which opened for the first time in early October 2010.

ZBD’s epaper solution has been deployed throughout the store and will ensure that customers always see consistent prices and product information between the shelf edge and the point of sale, as well as providing Coop Nordest with a cost-effective product labelling system.

Dr Maurizio Cattaruzza, IT Manager, Coop Nordest, said, “Tutto Coop solo Food is an innovative store concept, and we wanted to make sure that the technology we chose is cutting-edge and reflects the ‘technological style’ that we wanted the shop to have. We researched the different labelling solutions on the market, and found that the ZBD system was not only the best looking product, but its light touch infrastructure and low total cost of ownership made it the only choice for us.”

Dr Dino Bomben, Sales Director, Coop Nordest, said, “We’re delighted with ZBD’s epops; they are exactly what we wanted in Tutto Coop solo Food. Our vision for the new store was to have a solution that looked fresh and modern, and the epops fit the brief perfectly. We can now also run promotions at the press of the button, and our customers have already given us some excellent feedback.”

ZBD’s Italian partner, Proxima Centauri Informatica srl, supported Coop Nordest for the implementation, with a combination of epop 500s, the largest of the epop displays and epop 50s, the smallest display, rolled out across the store, with the solution integrating with the store’s back office system.

David Rogers, Sales & Marketing Director at ZBD, said, “We’ve been able to demonstrate to Coop Nordest both the speed and ease of installation when implementing our epaper solution. With a low total cost of ownership, we are confident that the solution will deliver a strong return on investment.”

The ‘Tutto Coop solo Food’store concept will be replicated across other locations in Italy if it proves successful.
