Albion Design & Fabrication, a Sandy based leading UK manufacturer of display systems have seen an eventful start to their September with staff achievements, new beginnings and fond farewells.

Albion, whose high profile clients include Harrods and Debenhams, are a major employer within Sandy with over 70 staff members. They have been in production for over 18 years at their plant on Middlefield Industrial Estate, providing a positive model of manufacturing in the UK.

Tuesday the 11th September saw three employees being awarded with the IOSH Managing Safely certificate equipping them with the skills required to manage their departments within health and safety guidelines. The IOSH course, hosted by the Sandy Health & Safety People, a local independent company, is part of Albion’s on going commitment to personal staff development and enhancement of knowledge and education through practical work based learning.

Albion’s Health and Safety Consultant Stephen Baldwin of Safetyrite Ltd presented a total of 18 staff with their CIEH Level 2 General Safety Awareness Certificate. Albion is funding the course with the aim to make the qualification a requirement for all staff who work on the premises.

Stephen quotes’ we are looking to build upon the already positive reputation that Albion holds in staff safety. We want all members of staff to be of an accredited level and make them proficient in their understanding and awareness of their contribution to a good level of health and safety in the workplace.’

Accompanying the CIEH and IOSH graduates in their celebrations is Chris Shoebottom the previous Sales and Marketing Director who was announced as Albion’s new Managing Director taking over the duties of MD as of October.

Chris is not alone in taking on a new role. Production Director, Ian Loader, will be retiring after 21 years of service at Albion, handing over the reigns to Frank Hopkinson. Frank who has been with Albion for 8 years and is the current Production Manager will also begin his new role on the 1st October.
