Abrantix AG

Pioneering work for inclusive payment systems: Abrantix certifies first terminal according to ep2 specification 8.2

The future of cashless payments is inclusive - and Abrantix is actively shaping it. We were the first company to successfully certify a payment terminal in accordance with the new ep2 specification 8.2, which fully meets the requirements of the European Accessibility Act. In doing so, we are not only setting technical standards, but also demonstrating that innovation and inclusion can go hand in hand.

ep2 as a pioneer for accessibility in Europe

ep2 (eft/pos 2000) is one of the first EFT payment protocols in Europe to standardize accessibility on PIN-on-glass terminals for visually impaired and blind users across the entire ecosystem. This standardization is not only a technical achievement, but also complies with EU regulations on digital accessibility.

With the publication of ep2 specification 8.2 in 2024, accessibility became a mandatory requirement for all new terminals. This means that every new payment terminal certified according to the ep2 standard in Switzerland and over 36 other countries must be accessible in future.

Developed with the expertise of those affected

The accessibility functions were not developed in secret, but were implemented in close cooperation with the Swiss Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (SBV). This partnership guarantees that the solutions actually meet the needs of users and offer real added value in everyday life.

The SBV has confirmed and supported the implementation - a seal of quality that shows: These accessibility features are not a theoretical compulsory exercise, but practical solutions for more independence when paying.

Newland U200: The first certified terminal

Our new unattended terminal Newland U200 is the first device to successfully meet these strict requirements and be certified. The market launch is planned for Q1 2026 - a terminal that is not only technically state-of-the-art, but also socially responsible. We look forward to seeing you at our stand 70B15, where the terminals will be on display.
