Green Retail begins on campus and it starts early at Worms University of Applied Sciences. When it comes to topics such as sustainable materials, resource-efficient store design, or transparent production and supply chains, EuroShop 2026 will make one thing clear: Green Retail and sustainable store design are not at odds with economic success. On the contrary, they are the key to connecting ecological responsibility with forward-looking retail.
This is exactly where Worms University takes action. Since summer 2025, our Green Office has been bringing together all activities related to sustainable development – serving as a platform for students, faculty, and staff who want to collaborate on projects, initiatives, and partnerships that demonstrate: sustainability at Worms University is not just taught, it’s lived.
A central example of this commitment is our digital sustainability dashboard, developed since 2025 as part of the “Future Forum Climate-Friendly Universities” project. The tool automates the collection of greenhouse gas data across areas such as energy, mobility, and procurement, visualizes environmental metrics in real time, and serves as a strategic management instrument for targeted emission reduction. In this way, sustainability at Worms University becomes measurable, transparent, and manageable: a practical example of how research and technology actively drive transformation.
Our “Clean Up Your Campus” initiative brings this commitment to life even more tangibly: students, faculty, and staff join forces to clean up the campus. This action is not only hands-on environmental protection but also an experiential learning opportunity that raises awareness and shows that sustainability starts in everyday life, spreading from campus into society and the economy.
What does this mean for you as a retail professional?
Our students, the future specialists and leaders in retail, marketing, and supply chain management, don’t just learn about concepts such as Green Store Design or Sustainable Business Models. They experience how data, technology, engagement, and knowledge interact to shape a truly sustainable retail reality.
Through our teaching and learning formats, research and practice merge seamlessly, enabling students to understand and apply sustainability holistically. In courses such as Process and Change Management or International Logistics, sustainability is treated as a central cross-cutting theme. Especially in modules like Business Ethics and Sustainability or Sustainable Tourism, we deliberately focus on integrating ecological, social, and economic dimensions.
Our students learn how responsible action, efficient processes, and global supply chains can be aligned to make retail fit for the future. EuroShop 2026 provides the perfect stage for us to bring practice and education together.
While the trade fair highlights sustainable store concepts, climate-friendly materials, and green supply chains, Worms University of Applied Sciences demonstrates how these ideas are born, developed, and brought to life through education, research, and engagement.
Our goal is clear: to make retail sustainable, resource-efficient, and profitable, and we invite you to join us on this path.
We look forward to welcoming you in Hall 4, Booth B12, to exchange ideas about sustainable retail concepts and discuss one key question:
What will Green Retail look like tomorrow?
