S-Payment, a subsidiary of the DSV Group, and PAYONE, a joint venture between Worldline and the DSV Group, are participating in the "Deutschland zahlt digital" initiative on behalf of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe. This initiative aims to support micro-retailers and small merchants who do not yet accept cashless payment methods with a one-year free offer to help them get started with digital checkout.
For merchants who meet the initiative's criteria and conclude a savings bank acceptance contract via the S merchant service, there are no terminal and installation costs or transaction fees for 12 months from the conclusion of the contract.
S-Payment and S-Händlerservice offer S-POS and S-POS Cube with the girocard
The two central savings bank service providers offer the S-POS acceptance app and the new S-POS Cube mobile terminal at the free conditions defined by the initiative. The S-POS family is the only mobile acceptance solution within the initiative that also allows merchants to accept payments with the girocard, the most successful and popular cashless payment method nationwide (the market share in this customer segment is more than 70 percent).

The "Deutschland zahlt digital" initiative aims to help improve the widespread acceptance of digital payment methods in Germany. according to digital association Bitkom, 98% of Germans will be using digital payment by card, smartphone or smartwatch by 2024. However, according to recent studies, there are still retailers who prefer cash (22%) or only accept card payments above a certain minimum turnover (45%).
The initiative therefore focuses on promoting genuine freedom of choice: consumers should be able to choose their preferred form of payment (cash, card payment and other digital payment methods).
