Wincor Nixdorf International GmbH

Wincor is the preferred service provider for Tesco in Europe

Wincor Nixdorf has been chosen to provide services to Tesco in seven European countries. The IT company has delivered services for Tesco stores in the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Turkey for several years, and in the mid of 2012 a multi-year contract was signed with Tesco extending the relationship to include the UK and Ireland.

In addition to approximately 1000 stores in central and Eastern Europe, Wincor Nixdorf will now provide services for nearly 2700 stores in Tesco’s home markets. Wincor Nixdorf will be responsible for the procurement, integration and repair of all IT equipment, and manage IT services for Tesco’s store opening and refurbishment program. As the preferred system integrator, Wincor Nixdorf is a strategic service partner for Tesco and will deliver standardized services for all seven countries.

Global support for Tesco has won the deal

“The key factor in our success was our desire and willingness to support Tesco globally. We also demonstrated our commitment to continuous improvement of customer service building on the excellent results we have delivered in Eastern Europe,” says Craig Bevan, Global Account General Manager for Tesco at Wincor Nixdorf.

Technical support for PoS and IT systems

Wincor Nixdorf will provide Tesco with all services connected with the maintenance and repair of POS systems and their peripherals, store-specific IT and network infrastructures. All on-site service calls will be centrally co-ordinated by Wincor Nixdorf. This makes communication and co-ordination between Tesco and service providers simpler since Wincor Nixdorf is the single point of contact.

In addition, Wincor Nixdorf will be supporting Tesco with installation and implementation services for hardware and software, and with complete project and rollout management of all IT services when stores are opened or renewed across Europe – a service that will streamline Tesco’s rapid expansion in the region.

UK comapnies benefit from Wincor's experience

This service model has operated successfully in Eastern Europe resulting in higher availability and less down-time, and the new contract will combine these additional benefits with the already best of breed processes which exist in the UK and Ireland, ultimately helping Tesco provide the highest standards of service to its customers.

“We started on a journey with Wincor Nixdorf when they started looking after our IT equipment in our stores in the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia. We added Turkey last year and are very pleased to now award them a contract to include the UK and Republic of Ireland,” says James McNulty, Head of IT Procurement at Tesco.
