The Centiva GreenWay initiative is our holistic approach to green stewardship, production, sustainability, and reclamation. This is not a separate or even parallel initiative. Instead it is the lens through which we look at every facet of our business.
As you enter our factory, the first thing you see on the large wall in front of you is our GreenWay focus. We joined the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) years ago and embraced its objectives as our own. All of our flooring products are FloorScore® Certified. All of our adhesives are GREENGUARD Certified. The importance of these two certifications cannot be overstated.
The Plastics Institute of America, RFCI, and the Vinyl Institute has determined that 43 billion pounds of existing vinyl is in the world today and almost all of it can be recycled into new useful products. Centiva products can be reclaimed and reused to make new floor tile or other vinyl products.
Centiva floor tile has pre- and post-consumer recycled content in most of our products. In order to aid your own efforts in obtaining LEED® points, we have adopted the ecoScorecard system. Go to the Get LEED tab in the GreenWay section of our website. There you can search our entire product line, make selections, review the contribution of those products to LEED and other accreditation programs, and obtain support documentation.
Being environmentally responsible began with the founding of the company and its long term plan. We do not sit still.
