TOMRA, a leading global provider of advanced solutions enabling recovery and recycling of materials, is presenting at the EuroShop retail trade fair in Düsseldorf a new Touch edition of the premium T-820 reverse vending machine.
In 2010 the T-820 was launched globally after being thoroughly tested in Germany during 2009 - one of the world’s most demanding retail markets with an extreme amount of beverage brands. The T-820 soon proved to be a success both for quality-conscious retailers and consumers.
Now TOMRA is proud to present the next generation of this premium reverse vending machine; the T-820 Touch edition. Partied with the large Touch screen comes a brand new operational interface with attractive offerings for all parties; the owner, the operator and the consumer.
New platform for dynamic promotional and brand building activities
When choosing the T-820 Touch edition, the owner gets a dynamic vehicle for brand building and promotional activities that can be delivered to consumers when returning containers - typically just before they begin shopping. The Touch edition builds on a new operational platform allowing for chain/store management to easily and dynamically administer activities like customized couponing on the refund receipt and targeted promo-videos shown in the screen (for example what to show when the machine is in idle mode or when a user completes the return process). Whether you choose to promote your own brand/products or others, the Touch edition makes it easy and effective.
Ease of use to a new level
The Touch edition is taking ease of use to a new level for both store personnel and for the consumer. Consumers can for example select the language they want to use on the interface and they will experience a more pleasant interface in general. For stores that offer the possibility for donating the refund, the consumer will appreciate the flexibility this feature offers in the Touch edition. Store personnel have all the operational guidance at their fingertips – intuitive guidance by simply touching the screen. The threshold of operating the reverse vending system is now lower than ever, making maintenance faster and by this securing operational uptime for the reverse vending system.

Patented recognition technology
All editions of the T-820 features the most advanced recognition systems available manifested in the patented technologies Sure Return™ and True Vision™. Being able to distinguish an almost unlimited number of single containers and until now “indistinguishable” crate types, the T-820 truly solves the most vital tasks of a high performing reverse vending system. In addition, Sure Return™ and True Vision™ provide maximum security towards fraud attempts by having a continuous video surveillance inside the machine.
Unmatched operational speed
When returning empties, operational speed proves to be perceived as an important factor of a store’s customer service level. Thus, even though a complicated task, the recognition process must be carried out in a matter of seconds to keep queue at a minimum even in peak hours. With the capacity of processing up to 60 single bottles or cans and up to 16 crates with bottles per minute, the T-820 ensures an excellent level of customer service. Studies* show that shoppers who return deposit containers purchase up to 52% more during their shopping visit than other customers, and that approximately 25% of these shoppers would shop elsewhere if they were not satisfied with the store’s container return solution.
The T-820 is perfectly designed for retailers who want to offer their customers the latest within high speed return systems and for markets with highly diverse assortments of beverage containers and/or crates needing extreme recognition accuracy. The accuracy combined with the detailed level of registered data make it possible to extract reports and analysis utilized to heighten personnel planning efficiency and for brand management operations within the retail industry.
The range of T-820 reverse vending solutions from TOMRA further improves quality and quantity in automated handling of empty beverage containers
Regular deliveries of T820 Touch edition from Q3, 2011
