Solution designed to improve travel safety and the passenger experience

NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR) today announced its authentication technology was selected by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for use in a pilot that aims to automatically verify passenger identification documents and boarding passes.

Known as Credential Authentication Technology – Boarding Pass Scanning System (CAT/BPSS), this technology utilizes a computerized system that is able to read and analyze data and embedded security features on passenger IDs and boarding passes to identify fraudulent credentials. Following successful lab testing, NCR’s technology will be used in a TSA pilot scheduled to begin at select airports in early 2012.

“Travelers today expect the utmost in security and convenience,” said Stan Ratcliffe, president, NCR Government Systems. “As the leading provider of airline check-in solutions and a long-time supplier to the U.S. government and its various agencies around the world, NCR has the perspective and expertise to deliver that exceptional passenger experience.”
