Parker Hannifin Corporation, the global leader in motion and control technologies, released its Micro Thermo (MT) Full Case Controller to the food retail industry at FMI 2012. The new controller offers precise control over case operation leading to lower energy usage and better food quality.
Accurate control of temperature is a key component to controlling food quality and ultimately loss or shrink. By measuring and then modeling actual valve profiles, the MT controller can prevent significant under/over shoot valve operation which can directly reduce temperature shocks to food. This is estimated to have up to a two percent impact on food loss (reduction).
The MT Case Controller uses highly accurate valve profiles coupled with advanced control algorithms. Better control of electric expansion valves results in lower overall energy usage to maintain temperatures, and ultimately better overall food quality.
The MT Case Controller is easily configurable from a simple front end. It features control of an electronic expansion valve, fans, defrost, anti sweat and lighting. It features true pressure/temperature of superheat control and has the capability to operate in evacuation mode.
The display case controller is designed for optimal superheat control for all conditions year round with built-in predictive alarms to alert the user of a problem before it becomes a major problem. Users can set it and forget it. Another key benefit is remote information, allowing users to check superheat, temperatures, and change parameters of their display case from anywhere in the world.
Parker acquired Micro Thermo Technologies in August of 2010 and integrated the business into its Sporlan Division. The Canadian operation produces control and energy management systems for supermarket applications and is now a part of the Sporlan Electronics offering, including the Micro Thermo Technologies full line of refrigeration, HVAC, lighting and energy control products installed in approximately 2,500 stores throughout North America.
