Nordic ID GmbH

Norwegian carrier pool reads RFID Tags with Nordic ID RFID mobile computers

Nordic ID will deliver Nordic ID Merlin and Morphic uhf RFID mobile computers for reading the tagged RFID plastic pallets for Norsk Lastbærer Pool AS in Norway.

Norsk Lastbærer Pool AS (NLP), owned by suppliers and distributors in the Norwegian food retail industry (DLF and DMF), organises and operates a pool system of tree pallets, plastic pallets and plastic containers (RPC`s) between the different parties within the industry.

The tree pallets are set to be replaced to more robust plastic pallets with RFID tags. Every pallet has four tags with unique identifying data on them. RFID technology enables NLP to add information about the content of each pallet, receivers address, order number and SSCC into every tag. Within the system Nordic ID Merlin and Morphic UHF RFID mobile computers are used for reading and writing the tags.

NLP deploys RFID to gain visibility of the pallets within its own value chain. The information is also available to their customers, via an information network, to improve their internal value chains. Better visibility and traceability in the entire value chain leads to better quality and potentially to less losses.

The solution will be implemented according to the GS1's EPC Global EPCIS standard. Each tag contains a simple unique identification data (EPC = electronic product code) that all parties can use for goods in and goods out. EPC can be saved in distributed or centrally placed databases to secure future traceability. The more locations enabled with readers the higher the quality of the information.

The solution will be delivered by hardware supplier and professional services provider
Lexit Group Norway AS together with a small selected group of partners, Telenor Objects AS and HRAFN AS, and Nordic ID as their RFID mobile computer provider.
