MICROS Acquires UK-based Snow Valley

MICROS-Fidelio UK Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of MICROS Systems, Inc., and leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality and retail industries, is pleased to announce the acquisition of UK-based Snow Valley, provider of e-commerce services and technology. MICROS Systems is the world’s leading provider of enterprise applications for the retail and hospitality industries.

The acquisition of Snow Valley strengthens MICROS’s ability to offer e-commerce technology, services, and expertise to existing customers and new markets throughout the UK and Europe. The acquisition also allows Snow Valley to extend its e-commerce service offering, by bringing the Open Commerce Platform™ (OCP) to Europe. OCP, developed by MICROS US subsidiary Fry Inc., powers the online operations of several major US retailers, including Vera Bradley, Eddie Bauer and Godiva. Fry OCP was rated a ‘Strong Performer’ on the latest Forrester E-commerce Platform Wave.

As an enterprise platform, Fry OCP will complement Snow Valley’s own Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) e-commerce platform, MUSE, and allow further extension of Snow Valley’s award-winning design and user experience services.

“Adding Snow Valley to the MICROS portfolio will allow us to deliver advanced e-commerce solutions to businesses across Europe,” stated Frank Ward, Senior Vice President of Business Development for EAME at MICROS-Fidelio UK. “With Snow Valley’s e-commerce expertise, we now have a broader set of capabilities for delivering fully integrated multi-channel solutions to the retail and hospitality sectors.”

Carlo Rimini, founder and CEO of Snow Valley, concluded, “This is a very exciting development for Snow Valley and our clients. Our mission has always been to help retailers grow their businesses through the innovative and effective use of e-commerce. Joining the MICROS family will allow Snow Valley to continue that work, while also providing us an extended range of products to help retailers develop their multi-channel strategies.”
