At the EuroShop, the leading international retail trade fair, the wood-based panel manufacturer presents its most exciting lightweight building innovations for shop fitting – above all BalanceBoard, a reduced weight particleboard made of wood and annual plants, which fulfils the highest ecology and sustainability standards.

BalanceBoard stands for natural lightness and ease

This board is much lighter and therefore easier to transport than a conventional particleboard, “because we have managed to replace up to 35 percent of the wood used in the board with a biomass granulate made of fast-regrowing annual plants", explains Claus Seemann, who is responsible for core materials product management at Pfleiderer. Yet this board performs just like a classic wood-based panel with regard to its technical values and fulfils the requirements and properties based on EN 312.

"In fact we can finish this particularly lightweight and environmentally friendly material with a large number of our decors – either direct faced as "DecoBoard Balance" or in the form of a Duropal HPL composite board." This is why BalanceBoard is also especially popular in interior finishing, for furniture or fixtures, as well as in shop fitting and trade fair construction.

This particular commitment to sustainability and design has not gone unnoticed in the industry: For example, Pfleiderer has already received numerous innovation and material prizes for its "BalanceBoard", among other things the "iF material design award", which is one of the most important design prizes worldwide, the "Design Plus Award" from Material Vision or the "Woody Award" from the Gesamtverband Deutscher Holzhandel (GD Holz). It also received nominations for the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany ("Designpreis Deutschland") in 2011 and 2012.
