Karl-Heinz Stiller, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, turns 70

Karl-Heinz Stiller, former President and CEO and current Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Wincor Nixdorf AG, celebrates his 70th birthday on April 28. Stiller has worked for more than 40 years at Wincor Nixdorf and its predecessor companies, with commendable achievements to show during this period.

Karl-Heinz Stiller was born on April 28, 1942 in Wohlau (now part of Poland) and grew up near Dresden in eastern Germany and Hövelhof in the western part of the country.

In 1966, he began his career at Nixdorf Computer AG, where he held various senior management positions before being appointed to the Divisional Board of Management. With the founding of Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme AG (SNI), Stiller took on global responsibility for the company’s self-service systems for banks in 1990 and also for international retail companies in 1993. In early 1995, he was appointed to senior management at Siemens Nixdorf and, in 1998, became Chief Executive Officer of the newly founded Siemens Nixdorf Retail and Banking Systems GmbH. He oversaw the successful integration of the business with solutions for retail banks and retail companies.

Stiller became CEO of the newly named Wincor Nixdorf in 1999 and, following its stock flotation in May 2004, was appointed President and CEO of Wincor Nixdorf AG. During this time, he succeeded in transforming the hardware manufacturer into a provider of complete IT solutions and services for retail banks and retail companies, expanding the company’s global market position and significantly increasing its market value.

After stepping down as President and CEO in January 2007, Karl-Heinz Stiller took over as Chairman of the Supervisory Boards. In January, he was appointed to serve for another year. At the Annual General Meeting in January 2013, he will resign from the Supervisory Board according to company statutes regarding age.

In addition to Wincor Nixdorf, Karl-Heinz Stiller is actively involved in numerous committees, associations and initiatives in the region. He is particularly interested in promoting business, higher education and administration and the networking among them in the innovative eastern Westphalian region.
