ZBD, a leader in the design and supply of electronic shelf edge labels and associated software solutions for the global retail industry, has announced that it will roll out its epaper solution in cooperation with one of Estonia’s largest telecom providers, Tele2, in its mobile phone stores in Estonia.
The project, which will commence in early 2011, follows a successful two-store pilot and was prompted by the introduction of new regulations for price display in Estonia.
Tele2 Estonia is part of a pan-European telecoms group offering services to 30 million customers in 11 countries. Tele2 will replace its current paper-based labelling system with ZBD’s epop 500, (epop electronic point of purchase) displays, to ensure that it always shows the correct pricing for its products, without the need for manual intervention, as well as allowing the retailer to quickly and easily execute promotional campaigns.
Kristiina Mitt, Director of Retail Sales and Customer Operations of Tele2 Estonia, said, “We decided to trial the ZBD technology in two of our stores because we wanted to find a way to ensure that we always display the correct price information to our customers and to provide to our customers the most modern solution.”
She continued, “We immediately saw the benefit from the trial – as the ZBD solution integrates with our POS, the system is fully automatic. Our old paper solution was labour-intensive. Now, when the product prices are changed on the POS, they are automatically changed on the epops in the store. This has already saved us a great deal of time in the pilot stores, as we currently display two prices in Estonia – EURO and EEK (Estonian Kroon). Currently, the EURO must be placed first, and from July 2011, only the EURO will be displayed. With so much price updating required, it’s a massive business benefit to know the prices displayed on our products are correct and up to date, with no need to find resource to print out labels.”
Kristiina Mitt continued, “We’ve had some great feedback, especially from our store staff. They don’t have to worry about printing out labels, and replacing them, allowing them to concentrate on delivering excellent customer service. The ZBD solution has provided us with a cost-effective solution that looks great in-store.“
David Rogers, Sales & Marketing Director, ZBD, said, “Tele2 Estonia is already reaping the benefits of deploying ZBD’s fully graphic electronic shelf labels in two of its stores. I’m confident that once the solution has been rolled out across the rest of the estate, they are going to enjoy a fast return on investment, as well as improve customer satisfaction levels throughout their stores.”
The full rollout will be undertaken by ipMedia, ZBD’s VISION partner in Estonia, and is due to commence in February 2011.
