Bizerba: promoter with label clothing from the designer Pia Fischer (hall 6, booth E56)

Labels – the little helpers in everyday life. Even the Egyptians and Sumerians about 6000 years ago used cylinder seal for labelling wine bottles. The Romans and the Greeks replaced them years later with small tags for amphoras on which they noted data about the type of wine, origin and year. But it was Johannes Gutenberg who started the revolution for labels in the Middle Ages with his invention of the letterpress. Coated with glue, they were mostly attached to fabric bales. The development into "small works of art" initially began with wine labels.

Creativity and art are also not foreign concepts for us at Bizerba. At the international trade fair for retail – the EuroShop – the solution provider will showcase its promoters in colourful and dazzling clothing from Pia Fischer who has designed unique and unusual collections for 35 years. Her clothing will bring the spirit of spring into the large halls. Here it is not only intended to be eye-catching but also as part of the exhibition itself. "The clothing is not made from material but from paper labels“, reports Claudia Gross, Director of Global Marketing & Communication at Bizerba. "Using the clothing, we show that labels no longer just serve as information labels but are also part of the product design and have many other important functions.“

For example, radio frequency identification or RFID assumes important functions in everyday post and parcel dispatching. A RFID contains an integrated transponder on which data about the product and delivery can be saved. It assists monitoring and checking in everyday logistics.

Like the RFID, the VPI label (variable product information) is processed into clothing. Using this, a retailer can tag different products with one label. The basic layout is printed with, for example, the company logo, corporate design and slogan. The remaining fields are empty so that the retailer can print variable data such as product the name, price, date and barcode himself.

Decorative labels among other things give the clothing a shimmering effect. These are the perfect complement to all high-shine packaging and turn the product into an eye-catcher. Every label is tailored and accustomed to the customer's requirements.

Claudia Gross explains the idea behind this unusual wardrobe:"We want to create a contrast to our machines at the EuroShop and thus create suspense. The label fashion show already created a wave of excitement at the Iffa last year. This year, we want to continue the successful collection“.

Pia Fischer from Creation Pia Fischer in Berlin created the unique clothing. "Paper labels are a great challenge for me and a new approach, above all, they have to last at least a week. I am already familiar with fabric labels, normally I use them combined with belts, ties, zippers and buttons for producing my designer pieces“, says the designer.

Fischer is fascinated by the multitude of design possibilities offered by the labels and other materials. "I saw the materials and then the clothing directly in front of me. Like the world, combining together“.

She designed pin brooches, bags, ties, men's jackets and evening dresses especially for the EuroShop. "The result was wearable pieces of art, accessories, short and long robes for the body, soul and spirit from thousands of labels, belts, zippers, buttons and ties. Every piece from my workshop is a one-off“, she reports.
