Bizerba is presenting a system solution for mobile couponing at Euroshop 2011 in collaboration with Valuephone.

A code appears on the scale's display during the serving process. The customer scans this code in and a recipe and coupon for an appropriate additional product appear directly on the smartphone's or mobile phone's display. With this application, food retailers can inspire the iPhone generation with a high affinity for internet and media applications for the point of sale and effectively set themselves apart from the competition.

Cross-Selling and Mobile Couponing with PC Scales and Smartphones

This solution is being exhibited from 26th February to 2nd March on the Bizerba stand (Hall 6, Stand E56) and is part of the company's “Open World“. Peter Laudien-Weidenfeller, Director Global Retail Sales at Bizerba, explains: “The Bizerba PC scales are designed according to open standards and can be enhanced at any time by software applications from partner companies. As the topic of mobile devices is currently developing a unique dynamic at the POS, our research work has focused on the dialogue between smartphones and scales. In this context, we have developed a solution for mobile couponing together with the in this segment leadingValuephone GmbH". This installation at EuroShop shows what is possible for modern retail companies.

Whilst the counter assistant is weighing the product, a product specific QR code appears on the scale's display. "If the customer scans this quadratic code using their mobile phone or smartphone," continues Laudien-Weidenfeller, "then a recipe and coupon for a suitable additional product is displayed directly on its screen. For example, whilst their Sunday roast is being weighed, customers at the same time receive cooking instructions with a mobile coupon for a suitable gravy that they can then redeem immediately at the POS".

Valuephone GmbH develops application solutions for different mobile phone platforms such as iPhone, Windows Phone, Android and Java-based smartphones and offers the retail sector a comprehensive communications platform with their customers. At the same time, the company provides the complete infrastructure for the implementation of mobile marketing campaigns as SaaS (Software as a Service) on a cloud computing basis, which means that retailers do not need to invest in hardware equipment anymore.
