Avery Berkel gives retailers Xtra at Euroshop 2011

XM counter scale

Showcased for the first time at Euroshop 2011 (26 February 2011 – 2 March 2011, Düsseldorf, Germany) is Avery Berkel’s brand new Xtra range of scale and software solutions.

The new range was developed following face-to-face research with leading retailers from across Europe and the rest of the world and, is designed to address their key concerns - specifically to improve fresh food counter profitability through increased sales, simpler operation and a reduction in waste.

Using the latest hardware and software technology, Xtra provides a range of features previously limited to high-end PC scales, whilst simplifying data management.

XM
At the heart of Xtra is XM, a new class of counter scale that provides the pc-scale functionality previously found only on high-end models in a standard system scale.

Among its design innovations and eight patented technologies are two high definition displays enabling touch screen operator interface and direct communication with the customer; an automatic level compensation system called ValuMax which will avoid undercharging; patented CodeChecker print head monitoring software and a full range of support and data integration packages.

The scale is also designed to complement modern retail counters with a new, stainless steel wraparound design.

XT
XT is Avery Berkel’s new flexible, PC-based scale. It is available with its own suite of weighing, labelling and ECR functions or, retailers can choose their own operating system, software application and peripherals to tailor the scale to suit their business.

Designed to run either Linux or Windows, retailers can also use applications from other providers, such as point of sale or stock control software.

The scale features a large colour touch screen for the operator and a range of colour display options for customers, which can be used to display adverts and cross promotions.

MX-i Enterprise
MX-i Enterprise is a new communications management system that enables retailers to manage multiple fresh food counters across a network of stores.

Managed by an intelligent scheduler, MX-i can simultaneously send 500 pieces of data, such as product prices, label formats, pictures and advertising media to over 100 scales.

In addition, IT staff can easily manage the data communication process, from any location, on any device. The system is currently being extended to provide comprehensive support and asset management.

Also on display is Avery Berkel’s popular IM scale, with integral printer and USB interfaces, a range of weighing and slicing solutions for the smaller, independent retailer and the WA wrapper, launched at Euroshop 2008.
