Recently, we have developed a solar pylon in collaboration with the Swiss Historika AG. This project was especially close to our heart, as we strive to integrate latest technical developments and to produce environmentally friendly products.
A pylon is often used for advertising purposes. It is mainly installed outside and it is free-standing. This solar pylon has been installed in Switzerland, on the outskirt of Arbon. It stands on a concrete foundation, weighs 420 kg and has three fields on each side which are illuminated by LEDs.
The solar panel installed on the top recharges the storage battery inside the pylon. By nightfall, a sensor turns on the illumination. Additionally, a programmed time switch is built in, so that the illumination switches on and off automatically.
If the battery is supercharged, the advertising surfaces light for about 30 hours. Provided that there is not enough sunshine, the battery can be recharged on the electricity network.
Advantages are obvious: the solar pylon saves energy and costs. There is no need for external power supply or for expensive digging operations for the feeder. Thus, possible approval procedures will be simplified. This project has been a successful combination of innovation and ecology.
