SO PAPER - Finding astute solutions order to reuse the scraps, cuttings and waste of Procédés Chénel

During the summer of 2014, Sophie Larger suggested to Sophie Chénel to gather twenty or so artists in order to explore the possibilities of a creative reclaiming of her workshop’s paper waste and scraps, with the ambition to present all the resulting projects during the Maison & Objet fair in Paris in January 2015.

The first introductions were made at the end of September 2014 in Procédés Chénel’s workshop. Throughout their visit, the artists shared and discussed with the craftsmen, learning the characteristics of the DROP Paper material, initiating researches for new applications. As the project starts, new and diverse ideas emerge rapidly; the new designs range from lamps to kites.

Event Greening: What I've Learnt From Doing

Event greening is a creative process that can be adapted to any event. Justin Hawes shares some of the lessons he has learned while implementing event greening at various events. He includes case studies such as the South African Climate Change Response Expo hosted at COP17 in 2011, which was awarded the UFI Sustainable Development Award in 2013, and Africa’s leading MICE event, Meetings Africa, which has won multiple green awards. Justin believes that you cannot simply “talk the talk” but must also “walk the walk”, and so all of his knowledge is shaped by personal experience and real events.
