MTRS offers retailers a single, holistic platform for the central management of all METTLER TOLEDO scales and wrappers across all stores throughout the entire equipment life cycle. MTRS DistributionServer is the software suites core module. MTRS DistributionServer enables grocery retailers to rapidly install and integrate new scales in any of their stores, and also to quickly manage application updates and reconfigurations in their device network. This module controls and monitors the distribution of software, patches and data to all METTLER TOLEDO scales and wrappers across the network, while an integrated scheduler enables all activities to be planned precisely. For example, updates can be distributed and performed at a preset time to minimize the impact on the day-to-day operations. In the case of a store opening, DistributionServer ensures that the first-time installation process of new equipment runs particularly smoothly. As soon as new scales or wrappers are connected to the network, all it takes is a few clicks at head office to transmit the relevant profiles and data to them.
DistributionServer is a valuable tool for providing maintenance and helpdesk support. IT employees at the head office can access the store-level equipment remotely in order to offer on-site support quickly and conveniently. If a sales employee has inadvertently changed a scale setting, for example, a member of the support team can offer remote assistance and restore the scale to its original state with just a few clicks. DistributionServer is accessed via MTRSs DistributionManager client software. Thanks to its clearly structured user interface, the client software facilitates users to call up information about the status and current configuration of individual devices and to make changes, if necessary. Adapt Touchscreen Layouts in WorkBench
WorkBench is yet another smart tool in MTRS which enables retailers to manage the touchscreen layout on the scales in their stores quickly, conveniently and economically and to make adjustments independently. WorkBench allows different PLUs to be assigned to the scales touch keys either centrally (and integrated into MTRS scale management) or autonomously at the local level, as required. “Generally speaking, the amount and type of fresh food offerings varies, depending on the size and location of each store. With MTRS and WorkBench, retailers can simply select standard presets and then fine-tune the settings for the individual store as necessary,” explains Lutz Nungesser. “This makes WorkBench the tool of choice for adapting the touchscreen layout in line with store-specific sales situations – such as to focus on local or regional specialties and best-sellers or to assign the weekly special offers to the scales hot keys. On-scale displays and video screens are among the most effective means of in-store communication. With DisplayManager, MTRS enables marketing departments to easily add perfectly timed purchase triggers at fresh food counters. DisplayManager supports POS in-store marketing, both on METTLER TOLEDO touchscreen scales and on other digital display devices around the store. Lutz Nungesser explains, “DisplayManager is specifically designed for marketing specialists. The tool makes it easy for them to create playlists, which they can then simply drag and drop to allocate them to specific stores and channels.” No special IT knowledge is required to manage visual content on the scales using DisplayManager; it supports a wide variety of image and video streaming formats, including videos, slideshows, RSS feeds and streaming services.
