Cash-in-Transit

Safekeeping and transport of cash

Petersen-Bach A/S is Denmark’s main supplier of equipment for the safekeeping and transport of cash. Our customers include the biggest banks and CIT companies in the country.

We have developed a large range of cases and containers to meet every conceivable requirement for safekeeping and transport. We supply cases and containers with security systems that colour the bank notes with ink and thereby making them of no value to the criminal.

On behalf of our customers, we demanded a lot of these products:

  • User-friendliness: Cases and containers are simple and user-friendly to use, and give a feeling of security even in stressed situations
  • Ergonomics: Cases are easy to handle in an ergonomically correct way. They have been developed, tested and approved in collaboration with work-environment consultants and occupational therapists in banks
  • Environmental considerations: We use only documented environmentally-approved substances for colouring with ink and smoke
  • Robust design: Cases and containers are robust and designed for long-term reliable use. When it comes to ergonomics and the environment, we are happy to go beyond the requirements of the law and listen to those who use the products.
  • Independent testing of the products: Security products from Petersen-Bach A/S are regularly tested and compared with products from other suppliers.
We also have regular surveys carried out on our products by recognised opinion poll companies.

ATM machines

Security for ATM cassettes

ATM machines need special security management. So Petersen-Bach A/S has developed an advanced and thoroughly thought-out “end-to-end” solution that covers the whole process from packing at the cash centre and during transport in the CIT vehicle to the cassette exchange the ATM machine.

The Petersen-Bach A/S Security system for ATM machines consists of specially developed protection modules that fit the ATM-standard cassettes in ATM machines.

The modules are easy to use and the effective protection stops all access to the bank notes in transit or while the cassettes are being positioned in the ATM machine.

User-friendly and reliable

Our “end-to-end” solution for ATM machines has been developed and constructed from the best possible components, making it extremely reliable.

Like our other systems, it has been developed with considerable attention to ergonomics and the environment. The modules are light and easy to handle and the colouring uses only environmentally-approved substances.

In a recent international test covering more than 60 points, our products achieved top place for design and robustness.

Video surveillance

High quality network-based video surveillance

A modern video surveillance system must be able to exploit the advantages from the general developments in IT and software in terms of technology and standardisation.

But it is also important that a company’s existing video camera system, e.g. with analogue cameras, can be developed and integrated with new IP-based camera systems, in which administration, operation and data storage are combined in one software application.

Maintaining existing investments

IP-based video surveillance has developed rapidly over the last ten years. Today it must be admitted that the technology and quality of IP-based systems is of really high standard.

It can be said that we are now confronted with “version 2” video systems, because many companies installed analogue video systems in the 1990s or the early 2000s. So it makes sense for many companies to consider upgrading and extending their video system that is perhaps 10–15 years old.

An analogue camera can still be excellent when used for the right purposes, so it makes sense to keep the camera but, for example, use an encoder to convert the signal for the IP network.

This makes it possible to go on using an “old” camera in a new IP-based solution as part of a new and up-to-date VMS (Video Management Software) system.

Better picture quality and more dynamic cameras

Similarly, technological developments in digital cameras have meant they have advanced in just a couple of years from just a few megapixels to 20+ megapixels today. At the same time, their functionality has broadened and their prices have fallen.

IP-based cameras have gone through the same development. There are video cameras on the market today at definitely competitive prices that can capture colour pictures in darkness with very little light, and cameras with up to 30 megapixels that can give an overview of a large area in great detail.

Simpler operation of video recording

VMS (Video Management Software) systems have also undergone similar developments. A VMS system handles the storing of video data and constitutes the user-interface for finding and viewing video recordings.

Data can be compressed to various degrees to achieve a data bandwidth between the VMS server and the user clients that does not overload the company’s network unnecessarily.

Skills and expertise are vital

Many companies venture into the video surveillance market and get installations supplied by various types of suppliers and installers. This market is very heterogeneous, so it is important for companies to look for a competent supplier with experience and qualifications in planning and installing the right video camera solution for the particular job.
