Energy efficient Cooling of Food – eco friendly and cost profitable?
Cooling of food is one of the industry sectors for which the concepts for climate protection, currently under discussion, let expect significant input for reduction of CO2 emissions by improving energy efficiency. According to a study of Forschungsrat Kältetechnik Cooling Technology facilities intoful provide an energy efficiency potential of up to 40%.
Based on the Energy-using Products (EuP) Directive, European policy has installed three projects for future regulations, which cover energetic aspects of food trade almost completely. These regulations will define minimum requirements for energy efficiency, to which "Commercial Refrigerators and Freezers", "Refrigeration and Freezing Equipment" and "Air-conditioning and Ventilation Systems" shall comply to in future.
The user interest for the sustainable reduction of lifecycle-costs for their technical equipment takes effect in the same direction, although aspects of customer-oriented product presentation must be considered. Recently, the manufacturing industry has suggested solutions for the exploitation of existing energy efficiency potentials as well as neutral tools assessment of technical equipment.
The exhibition EuroShop 2011 will include an expert talk for exchanging information on current policy measures, on experience and expectations of the industry as well as, recently developed solutions provided by manufacturers.
