1. Your trade fair presentation this year had the motto “à la carte”. What highlights were you able to present to the trade visitors at EuroShop 2011?
The trend towards sustainable shopfitting in food retail is gradually spreading to all other retail sectors and is now becoming a hygiene factor. We took this development into account at our Umdasch Shop-Concept and Assmann Ladenbau joint stand. Included here are the two product presentations “Green Shelf” and “Smart Shelf” and using a CO2 calculator we compare the carbon dioxide footprint of differently produced shelves. Our presentation also showed that product management and complete fit-outs are prominent key disciplines in modern shopfitting.
Furthermore, our presentations featuring star chef Sarah Wiener are certain to have been a special highlight. Here we were able to impressively present what excellent cuisine and successful store fitting both have in common.
2. What expectations did you have of EuroShop 2011 and have these been fulfilled?
There could not have been a more favourable time to hold a EuroShop as retail is indeed riding on a tailwind in many countries and this has now also reached shopfitting. Nevertheless, the crisis has altered purchasing behaviour amongst retailers and branding agencies and architects are playing a role here now more than ever. Especially with the major retail players, services like project management and complete fit-outs are also in particularly high demand. Not least due to these developments the quality of trade visitors is particularly important to us. Thanks to intense preparations we were able to welcome a large number of decision-makers to our stand and hold productive talks with them here.
3.Looking ahead already to 2013: Tell us what lies behind the “Around the Shopping World in 18 Days”?
Our Umdasch Shop Academy has established itself as a highly specialised further education institution for retailers, presenting at EuroShop amongst other things this very spectacular Shop Expedition. Dr. Christian Mikunda, the founder of strategic dramaturgy, will be accompanying retail professionals and trend scouts around the globe from 5 to 24 April 2013. The journey will set off initially from Frankfurt for Miami, where the “Allure of the Seas”, the world’s largest floating shopping temple, will await participants. After disembarking in Jamaica the journey will continue to Los Angeles. Further destinations in the “Around the World in 18 Days” tour include Hong Kong, Macao, Singapore and Abu Dhabi.
